The inauguration of the all new international terminal was presided over by Prayut Chan-o-cha, Thailand’s Prime Minister, and other high ranking officials. The Phuket International Airport aims to become the gateway to the Andaman Sea with the opening of the new international terminal.

The new four-storey 73,104 square metre terminal will increase the airport’s capacity from 6.5 million passengers per year to 12.5 million passengers per year. The new international terminal at Phuket International Airport is seen as a much needed upgrade, and includes 15 immigration points, 8 customs counters, 5 baggage carousels, a 300 metre arrival curb and a 285 metre departure curb.

The increase in immigration points at the Phuket International Airport was much needed, and the brand new 15 immigration points will speed up arrivals and departures. Meanwhile, the new international terminal also features an expanded shopping area and a host of new cafes and restaurants, providing travellers with much more options than before.

Located in the northern part of the island in between Nai Yang Beach and Mai Khao Beach, the Phuket International Airport services 46 airlines which connects Phuket with more than 37 destinations worldwide.
